Richard and James walk in memory of David Banks

Richard Banks is walking to fundraise for St Richard’s Hospice Foundation in memory of his much-loved father David Banks.

Richard says: “As most of you will know, I am not one to take on physical challenges, but I had to do something to thank the wonderful St Richards Hospice, Worcester who looked after my father David so very well during the last few days of his life in February 2022. I am taking on the walk in his memory.”

The walk is on the 8th July 2022 and is the route of The Worcestershire Way, covering 31 miles of some of Worcestershire hilliest hills – 5,456 ft of ascent according to the Long Distance Walking Association.

Richard continues: “I managed to catch James Deakin off guard and he kindly agreed to walk with me. This is a shared fundraising page between the two of us.

The duo have bought the gear and completed their first long distance training walk in mid June, covering 18 miles including a section of the Malvern Hills. Further training is to follow.

Richard concludes: “James and I would be most grateful if you felt that our efforts are worth a reasonable donation – if you don’t, then just donate to St Richard’s Hospice anyway, as our efforts are certainly worth a bit of your hard earned cash.”

If you wish to donate, we would be most grateful. The JustGiving page can be found here.
