SUCCESSFUL SUMMER AUCTION

G Herbert Banks held a successful summer auction on the 27th June at The Crown & Sandys, Ombersley. The two lots both sold making well over the asking prices with the sales totalling £1,439,000, this being 13.25% over the guides.

The properties were smallholdings with a house on each that required improvement, a good range of outbuildings and land extending to 16.53 acers in the case of Fruit Farm, Bournes Green, Nr Chaddesley Corbett and 21.61 acres in the case of Wood Farm, Dunley.

The auction room was well attended given that there were just two lots and there were a very healthy number of registered bidders in the room. It was a warm evening and the auctioneer Robert Parry was made to work hard with a considerable number of bids taken on each property.

G Herbert Banks do not hold auctions as regularly as they once did and indeed as regularly as they would like to, mainly due to the fact that

we feel that one needs to be very careful about what is put forward to a public auction. Many properties that we would have previously sold by auction are now being taken for sale by Private Treaty with perhaps Best & Final offers to follow, or taken to the market for sale by Informal Tender. However when you have the right proper

ty for a public auction there is no better way to sell.

We are now taking enquires from those that may have a suitable auction property with a view of holding a further sale later in the year.
